How to share your screen on Google Meet

Google Meet runs in the browser, so screen sharing needs no extra software. Here is how to share your whole screen, one window or a single tab with its sound, on a computer and on a phone, and what to check when it does not work.

Written for Google Meet in October 2026. Google renames buttons now and then, so labels may differ slightly.

Share your screen in Google Meet on a computer

  1. Join the meeting in Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari.
  2. In the bar at the bottom, select Share screen (the rectangle with an arrow, called Present now in older versions).
  3. Choose a tab, a window or your entire screen, then select Share.
  4. To finish, select Stop sharing at the bottom of the meeting or in the bar your browser shows.

Share a video or audio with sound

Meet shares sound most reliably from a Chrome tab. Choose the tab option, pick the tab with your video, and make sure Also share tab audio is switched on. When you share a window or the entire screen, computer sound is usually not included.

Share your screen in Google Meet on a phone

  1. In the Meet app, tap More options (the three dots).
  2. Tap Share screen, then Start sharing, or Start Broadcast on an iPhone.
  3. To stop, tap Stop sharing in the Meet app.

A simpler option for quick calls

Google Meet ties meetings to Google accounts, and guests without one often wait to be admitted. For a quick call where you just want to show your screen to one to three people, Abeedesk screen sharing needs no account for anyone. You create a room, send the link and click Share screen.
